Greetings readers,
Welcome back to the blog!
I’ve debated about whether to post this on the blog or not… after some consideration, I decided to give it a go. But, before I explain further, I do want to say that, this YouTube channel is not directly related to The Invisible Vision Project, and the work I do as a disability advocate. However, I do feel it is relevant to share this on the blog here still, because, this blog is about me, and (my) life as a disabled person. So technically, it is legitimate to share anything and everything I’m open and willing to share. Anyways, without further ado, let’s get into it.
So yes, as I said, I’m starting a YouTube channel. It’s all VERY new, and in its infancy, but, you gotta start from somewhere, right? So, as some of you recall, from a previous blog of mine, where I talked about things I learned as a disabled gamer, this, is what the YouTube channel is about— me showcasing my gameplay as a disabled and more so, visually impaired gamer. I gave a name for the channel: Limited Sight Gamer, and I find it quite fitting. And, I just briefly mentioned in my channel description, that I play games and I try to make videos through limited sight. But nothing more than that.
The idea of starting a YouTube channel actually isn’t mine alone. I’ve had family members and even friends suggested this to me. But, they never really gave me concrete ideas on what kind of content I should/could create that’s entertaining. Things changed when I started playing video games. And of course, I’m not that of an amazing or even a great gamer. I only started about a year and a half ago. I jumped into an open world RPG game called Genshin Impact with barely any prior experiences in video games at all. I faced a lot of hurdles, but got a lot of help from other more experienced gamers. In the midst of it, I found myself having a lot of fun playing. I also realized, there are a lot of gamers out there, and of all ages, too! But, most gamers are sighted. Of course, there are disabled and even visually impaired gamers, too. And I want to meet them. Because I’ve been really enjoying gaming. So, might as well create some content, and some perspective on how I play video games through my eyes as a visually impaired person.
Finally, here are some info, if any of you reading my blog, or have been supporting me and rooting for me through my work as an activist. Even if you don’t play video games yourself, it won’t hurt to still feel free to check out my content, and maybe even support the channel, which is still very very new. Currently, I’ve only uploaded a couple #Shorts on there, because they are easier to make and easier to grab people’s attention than longer videos. But! That’s just for starters. I’ll slowly work out a posting schedule and update it as I go. I do any and all of it on my own, and it takes time to record, and edit, learning as I go, doing this thing called content creation. I don’t know where this’ll all take me, all I know is, if I’m passionate about it, and enjoying it, I got to at least get it started!
