Hello Everyone,

Welcome to The Invisible Vision Project’s Blog.

It seemed that a lot of you have enjoyed reading guest blogger interviews. I am happy to hear that that is the case. So here, we have our second guest blogger interview. Our guest blogger for today is Holly from Life of a Blind Girl. Without further ado, let’s get into the interview with Holly:

  1. Please briefly introduce yourself.
My name is Holly, I’m 22 and from the UK. I’m a disability and lifestyle blogger. I love all things beauty, fashion and all the general girly stuff.
  2. What are your hobbies and interests?
I love music and especially enjoy going to concerts (I probably go to way too many), I enjoy reading a good book, spending too much time on the internet and hanging out with my friends and family.
  3. Name your strengths? And your lacking?
My strengths include writing, helping others (I hope), being organised, completing things on time and playing the flute. I sometimes lack confidence in myself, I could take part in more sport and dare I say it, I’m sometimes too kind for my own good.
  4. What is the highest level of education you have completed so far?
A BA Honours Degree in Children, Young People and Families.
  5. What is your current occupation?
    I’m an Assistive Technology Officer.
  6. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope that I may have moved out of my family home, still be working and be in a good, strong and stable relationship.
  7. Describe one of your proudest moment in your life.
My proudest moment of my life is getting my degree. I genuinely did not think that I was going to graduate university as I faced some battles both academically and personally whilst at university but I got through them and graduated with the grade that I so badly wanted. I proved to myself that I could do it and the hard work paid off!
  8. What is your biggest fear in life?
Losing the people that I love the most.
  9. Please tell us about your blog:
I am a disability and lifestyle blogger. I blog about all things visual impairment/disability, I share my experiences on where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to, I also do some beauty posts as well. What is the title of your blog?
The title of my blog is ‘Life of a Blind Girl’

When did you first get into blogging and Why did you start?
I first got into blogging in 2015, when I was in my first year of university. Since then, my blog has evolved, it’s not just my hobby anymore, it’s a huge part of my life. I started blogging in the hope to tackle the common misconceptions surrounding sight loss and disability, educate, support and inspire others. I also wanted to share my experiences of living with a disability and to get across the fact that living with a disability isn’t all negative, the positives do often outweigh the bad aspects.

  10.  How would you describe your blogging style?
I’d say it’s very personal, honest, and light-hearted.
  11. Who has impacted you the most in blogging?
I met my best friend through blogging so she definitely has impacted my blogging experience. My family and friends also have had a huge impact as they are so supportive of my blog. Other disability and lifestyle bloggers have also had a huge impact as well as they continue to inspire me.
  12. How active are you on your blog and approximately, how much time do you spend blogging?
I try and post a new blog post every week if I can. If I’m not working/socialising with friends then I’m usually blogging, I spend a lot of time blogging and I absolutely love it. I try to make my posts as good and informative as possible.
  13. Have you ever faced a challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
I think the most challenging moment that I’ve faced in my blogging journey so far was going self-hosted, the process was easy enough to do but it took a lot of research and decision making and I was worried that I may lose all of the content on my blog that I had worked so hard on, thankfully that did not happen and I don’t regret going self-hosted at all.
  14. In the future, where do you hope your blog will take you?
I’d really like to earn money from blogging and collaborate with brands.
  15. What would be one piece of advice you would give to first time bloggers?
One piece of advice that I would give to first-time bloggers is to blog about something that you’re passionate about, passion shines through when you’re reading a blog posts. I’d also say do not give up!
